We’re getting close to show day now …..just 10 days away.  We wanted to let you know what’s planned for Saturday, March 1st.  Please read right to the bottom and hopefully all your questions will be answered.

The Dress Rehearsal is at 2 pm at Western Financial Place.  It is most important that everyone attend the rehearsal because we will have lights on the ice, spotlights, an emcee, a curtained backdrop and the boards will be covered ….the ice is transformed to a stage and this can feel quite different than practice.   A run through of the show will take place, and some groups may have to do their routine twice as they adjust to the different atmosphere in WFP.

We ask that all skaters arrive dressed in their costumes, with skates on no later than 1:45 pm.  Pre-CanSkaters (Lion Sleeps Tonight), CanSkaters (Jailhouse Rock, Pina Colada & Macarena), Power Skaters (Who Let the Dogs Out) and Intro-StarSkaters (My Girl & Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) are all to go to Section Q on the far side of the arena.  This section will have some parent supervisors who will sit with their group during the entire show.  It is recommended skaters have warm coats while sitting and waiting their turn to perform.  Note there is a bathroom in the corner at the top of the stairs behind Section Q.  Skate guards are strongly recommended as the floor is cement in the bleachers ….however, we are planning to place some heavy paper on the floor for those who do not have guards.  Skaters will be able to watch the entire show from Section Q.

Parents may sit with their children if absolutely necessary (especially for the wee ones) – but we ask that you stay in Section Q; otherwise it becomes too difficult to find our skaters when it’s their time to perform.  We request that siblings sit elsewhere.  The coaches will come and get the groups as their turn gets closer.

Following their skate – skaters will return to Section Q to watch the remainder of the show …..and everyone comes back on the ice at the end for the Finale.  We realize a few of the little ones might not make it til the end ….but we certainly encourage everyone to return to the ice for the Finale.  The show is approximately 2 hours with the intermission; however, we will not have an intermission and ice clean at the rehearsal.  The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Jailhouse Rock groups skate early in the show ….and they are our youngest skaters.

StarSkaters – a dressing room is designated for you to accommodate your costume changes.  If you wish to sit and watch the show, please sit in Section P ….we have to be able to find you!  We ask that you do not walk around the building in your costumes and skates.

For the actual show in the evening – we repeat everything!  We ask that all skaters arrive early – no later than 6:40 pm, again in costume with skates on ….and go to Section Q again.  There will be an ice clean and intermission during the show.  When it’s all over, please come and collect your children behind the backdrop and be sure to collect their coats, etc. from Section Q.

Following the show, in the main lobby of WFP, our guest skaters from Calgary – Keelee Gingrich and Davin Portz, Novice Pairs Champions of Canada, will be signing autographs.

Thanks to all our volunteers who have contributed to this opportunity for our skaters to perform at the Cranbrook Skating Club’s 60th Anniversary Ice Show.
